Why Does the Material Matter?

The Steel Keeper Bar is an essential part of the magnetic circuit in a traditional Gibson PAF humbucker. It connects the Alnico bar magnet to the adjustable polepiece screws.

Its magnetic permeability and material composition can influence magnetic flux distribution, pickup inductance, and resonance characteristics.

For historically accurate PAF reproductions, the correct steel alloy is therefore just as important as the dimensions and construction of the component.
