"Art of Aging" Tuners
Aged Tuning Machines – Vintage Style Tuners for Fender® & Gibson®
The right tuning machines are an important detail when restoring or building an authentic vintage-style guitar. Modern, perfectly polished tuners can look out of place on an aged instrument, while correctly selected and carefully aged tuning machines help create a consistent and convincing vintage appearance.
Our Art of Aging™ Aged Tuning Machines are designed for players, collectors, restorers and guitar builders looking for high-quality vintage-style tuners for classic Fender® and Gibson® guitars.
Vintage Style Tuners for Fender® Guitars
Our selection of Aged Tuners for Fender® includes vintage-style tuning machines suitable for classic Stratocaster® and Telecaster® guitars as well as other historically inspired Fender® models.
Depending on the model and period, the tuners feature traditional construction details, vintage-style buttons, appropriate mounting specifications and finishes designed to complement guitars inspired by instruments from the 1950s and 1960s.
They are particularly suitable for Pre-CBS style restorations, Relic guitars and vintage-inspired builds where modern-looking hardware would compromise the overall appearance
Aged Tuners for Gibson® Guitars
For Gibson® style instruments, we offer Aged Tuning Machines suitable for Les Paul®, SG®, ES® and other classic models.
The range includes traditional Kluson® style and Grover® style tuning machine designs, allowing the appropriate tuner to be selected according to the model, production period and desired vintage appearance.
Vintage-style buttons, metal housings, bushings, washers and mounting hardware are carefully matched to create a coherent aged appearance.
Authentic Aging & Vintage Character
Different materials and finishes naturally age in different ways. Nickel, chrome, metal housings and plastic tuner buttons develop their own characteristic patina, discoloration and surface wear over time.
Our aging process is therefore focused on creating a natural-looking vintage appearance rather than exaggerated artificial relicing. The objective is to reproduce the subtle visual character associated with hardware that has aged naturally over many years.
Slight variations between individual tuners are part of this process and contribute to their authentic appearance.
The Art of Aging™
With more than 30 years of experience in aging guitar parts, CrazyParts understands that convincing vintage character comes from the combination of many small details.
Whether you are restoring a vintage-style Stratocaster®, Telecaster®, Les Paul®, SG® or ES® guitar, upgrading a Relic instrument or completing a historically inspired build, our Art of Aging™ Aged Tuning Machines provide the finishing touch for an authentic vintage appearance.

Gotoh VTR – Vintage Tone Revival Tuners | Exclusively Made for CrazyParts
The Gotoh VTR – Vintage Tone Revival Tuners combine authentic vintage specifications with the manufacturing precision and reliability of modern Japanese production. Exclusively made by GOTOH for CrazyParts, the VTR Series was developed for players, collectors, restorers and guitar builders who demand more than ordinary vintage-style replacement tuners.
The concept behind VTR – Vintage Tone Revival is to reproduce important construction details and dimensions found on original vintage tuning machines while maintaining the smooth and reliable operation expected from GOTOH.
Kluson® Style Single Line & Double Line Housings
One of the most distinctive features of our VTR Series is the specially manufactured Kluson® style stamped metal housing.
Available with historically inspired Single Line and Double Line stampings, these housings reproduce the characteristic appearance associated with classic tuning machines used on legendary American guitars of the 1950s and 1960s.
These special stamped housings are exclusively made for CrazyParts and provide an important visual detail for historically inspired restorations and premium vintage guitar builds.
What’s Different? – VTR Series Specifications
Unlike regular modern vintage-style tuners, the VTR Series incorporates several specially developed vintage-inspired specifications:
Vintage Revival Series reproduction tuning machines
Exclusively made by GOTOH for CrazyParts
6-Inline configuration
Traditional nickel-plated finish
Kluson® style Single Line or Double Line stamped housings
Vintage 11/32" diameter peghead bushings
Vintage-style mounting screws included
Vintage-correct 1/4" diameter brass string posts
String posts are 2 mm longer than GOTOH's regular specification
Traditional brass internal washers
Vintage-Correct Longer Brass String Posts
One of the most important VTR details is the specially manufactured 1/4" diameter brass string post.
The posts are 2 mm longer than GOTOH's regular specifications, providing the appropriate amount of exposed string post above the peghead. This helps ensure the proper number of string windings around the post and more closely reproduces the geometry of original vintage tuning machines.
Combined with traditional brass internal washers and vintage 11/32" peghead bushings, these details distinguish the VTR Series from standard modern replacement tuners.
Gotoh Precision – Vintage Tone Revival
While the appearance and specifications are inspired by original vintage tuning machines, the VTR Series benefits from GOTOH's renowned manufacturing precision.
The result combines smooth operation, reliable tuning performance and Japanese manufacturing quality with carefully reproduced vintage details.
